MARIO CARIBE'S 'CRUSADERS TIME MACHINE' LIVE AT THE FIFE JAZZ FESTIVAL
A thrilling all-star band which recreates the unmistakable soulful and funky sounds of The Crusaders – the hip swinging 60’s and 70’s band that moved from funky jazz to jazzy funk but always delivered style, swagger and fun concerts.
Mario’s band accentuates the fun and features some of the best musicians on the Scottish scene: Konrad Wiszniewski (saxophone), Chris Grieve (trombone), Neil Warden (guitar), Paul Harrison (keys), Mario Caribe (bass) and Stuart Brown (drums). Subie Coleman sings the soul-jazz repertoire with extraordinary verve.

Blue Soul Groove 'Turn Back The Time'
Cool grooves and beats from Scotland's only Jazz Funk outfit featuring guitarist Neil Warden and John Burgess on saxes and flute.
Play listed on a host of radio stations - LATEST NEWS
After 25 years playing guitar with Scottish Blues legend Tam White, Neil Warden releases his first solo album under the Blue Soul Groove moniker. Collaborating with Scottish musicians John Burgess (sax/flute), Ronnie Rae Jr. (keys), Bobby Heatlie Sr. and Ant Davies (bass).
Inspired by the likes of George Benson, Nile Rodgers, Larry Carlton, The Average White Band and The Crusaders, Warden has created a blissfully cool laid back groove album that’s strong on ‘melody and hooks’ as it is ‘cool and mellow’. The cover of The Crusaders ‘Put It Where You Want It’ showcases the bands obvious talent and skill. But not to be outdone Warden’s song writing skills put the rest of the album on par.
“I decided to record the album following the success of my Smooth Jazz and Cool Groove EP which was play listed on the now sadly defunct New York City CD101 radio station in the states. But like so many musical projects I put it on the back burner to focus on work with Tam White, Boz Burell (Bad Company) and Borders singer songwriter Allie Fox.”
Recorded in Warden’s studio the album is also testament to the burgeoning DIY music scene and Warden’s excellent production and recording techniques.
The album is already gaining critical acclaim and the title track was ‘Track of the Week’ and play listed on Jazz FM Fusion Flavours, February 2011.
Like the Average White Band before them the Blue Soul Groove collective shows that these Scottish musicians are as funky, mellow and cool as their celebrated US counterparts.
"Blue Soul Groove are one of the big new discoveries for me. They are the real deal.” Steve Quirk - JAZZ FM UK
"As lounge music goes it is a cut above the rest, and is the latest example of Scots musicians successfully taking musical coals to Newcastle." Colin Somerville - Scots Magazine
"Warden has latched onto something here that has wings. This thing could take off in flight and go to places only the imagination can envision. Ronald Jackson - The Smooth Jazz Ride
"Blue Soul Groove do exactly what it says on the tin - to great effect!" Peter Young - Jazz FM
